Lineage matters! Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a highly complex and technical martial art and sport. Understanding the details of each technique are extremely important. Jiu-Jitsu is very often compared to the game of chess and for good reason. Skill, strategy and technical ability far outweigh physical ability and aggression.


Gracie Humaitá in Brazil was the very first Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy in the world when it was established by Grandmaster Hélio Gracie. Since that time, the art and sport of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has evolved and become incredibly popular throughout the United States and beyond.


Our academy here in Eureka, MO is one of the official Gracie Humaitá academies and part of the Gracie Humaitá Association. We have a direct lineage to the origins of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu itself!

Professor Brian Imholz

Founder, co-owner, and co-head instructor of Gracie Eureka, Professor Brian is a 3rd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with years of training, competition, and teaching experience.

As a dedicated martial artist, Brian has competed at a high level, tested his skills against some of the best, and earned respect for both his technical knowledge and his leadership on the mats. His goal is to share that same passion with every student—whether they’re stepping on the mats for the first time or preparing for competition.

Professor Dennis Williams

Co-owner and Co-head instructor, Professor Dennis Williams is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo black belt who brings years of experience, technical precision, and passion to every class. His dual background gives students a unique advantage by combining the throws and balance of Judo with the ground control and strategy of Jiu-Jitsu.

 Kids 1 (Ages 4-6)
Children may start training as early as four years old in our "Skills and Drills" class. This class is specifically designed for younger students who need to develop essential classroom skills that will benefit them in our more technical children's program as well as in their classroom at school.

 Kids 2 (Ages 7+)


Jiu-Jitsu is a fantastic activity for everyone, especially children. This is a martial art, an extra curricular activity, a sport that your child can do their entire lives. At our academy, they will build classroom skills that will benefit them for years to come in school and beyond. Owner/Instructor Professor Dennis enjoys spending time with, "the little ones" which is one of the many reasons why we are so proud of our kids program!

As owners of The FUJI Jiu-Jitsu Championship Series we have been running tournaments throughout the United States since 2012 and can tell you that women are training and competing now more than ever! Women and girls of ALL AGES are participating in jiu-jitsu and achieving a wide variety of goals!

The Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Self Defense System has been evolving since the early 1920's when it was first developed by the Gracie Family. Since then the techniques that we teach have been tested countless times in competition and real life scenarios alike. There are well over 100 self-defense techniques in the official curriculum, all of them are learned and practiced at our academy in a safe, welcoming environment.

Gracie Humaita Eureka is owned and operated by Professors Brian Imholz and Dennis Williams, two accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belts with extensive experience competing and coaching at the highest levels of the sport.


Professor Brian, a 3rd Degree Black Belt, brings years of high-level competition experience, tournament medals, and a wealth of technical knowledge developed through years of dedicated training and instruction. Professor Dennis, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo Black Belt, is a multiple-time IBJJF Pan Championship medalist, Pan American Champion, and Masters World Championship medalist.


Together, Professors Brian and Dennis have built a competition program focused on developing skilled, confident athletes while maintaining the technical excellence and traditions of Gracie Humaita. Whether you're stepping onto the competition mats for the first time or pursuing championship gold, you'll be learning from instructors who have experienced the challenges and rewards of competition firsthand.

 Private Lessons

Private lessons are a fantastic way to improve your technical ability at a much faster rate than by only attending group lessons. These are in no way required but depending on your schedule and/or your jiu-jitsu goals, private lessons are a proven method of success.

In each private session you can expect about 45-60 minutes of instruction and drilling that is catered to your specific jiu-jitsu goals. The lesson plan can be determined either by your or by the instructor and you should expect to take notes and or record your session if you so choose. You may also bring an "uke" (training partner) with your for the lesson as well.
